How do I get a job?
The Student Employment Program provides Undergraduate and Graduate students with many different opportunities to find employment both on and off campus.
-
over 700 students find jobs every year
-
first come, first served!
-
additional opportunities exist through the Job Location & Development Program
Three interrelated programs make up the entire Student Employment Program:
On
Campus Student Employment:
The On Campus Student Employment Program consists of the Federal Work
Study (FWS) and University Funded (UF) programs. There is no difference
between the two except that their earnings are coming from two different
budgets. All criteria are the same for these positions. However, not all departments have departmental, or university-based
resources available to hire students and must rely on the FWS eligible
students.
Community Service:
The Community
Service program is available for those students who are eligible for Federal
Work Study only. This program provides students the opportunity to work with the
local communities in programs developed to benefit the surrounding
neighborhoods. these positions are available both on and off campus, while many
of them are based off campus.
Off Campus Job Location and Development (JLD):
The JLD
program was started several years ago to provide a resource to our students. It
serves as a posting facility for local organizations and businesses to post
their part-time job opportunities with SHU. This program provides a reasonable
opportunity to find work for every student who wants to work, regardless of
eligibility.
Starting with the Fall 2006 semester, services for these positions
will be available through the Career Center.
