Welcoming Diversity Workshops

Today's diverse workforce poses both challenges and opportunities. Join us to increase your skills!

Companies, multinational corporations, schools, hospitals, and most employers are seeking employees who are able to work effectively in a diverse workforce.

In the Welcoming Diversity Workshop, participants do a series of activities, empowering individuals of all ages and backgrounds to take leadership in building inclusive communities.

NCBI’s approach of combining emotional healing work with practical skill training enables participants to learn quickly in a safe environment that values individual initiative.

NCBI’s seasoned training teams-- representing a wide variety of backgrounds--coupled with the diversity of the participants in the seminar, provide a valuable resource that helps people understand how they are both alike and different.

Workshop Goals

Who can benefit at SHU?

  1. Students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, faculty, priests, and administrators can benefit from this program. The purpose is to have members of our own community use NCBI ideas and skills to make these groups more inclusive and effective, creating a greater community.

  2. The NCBI team at SHU is prepared to lead One Day Workshops throughout the University Community.

  3. If you believe that prejudice or discrimination is affecting the personal and/or professional lives of your peers, contact us to arrange a special workshop for your group.

  4. If you would like to attend one of our workshops all you need to do is sign up at ncbi@shu.edu.  There is no fee involved for members of the Seton Hall Community during the scheduled workshops.

  5. Our presentations are especially prepared for staff training, staff retreats, and professional development programs.

  6. We have participated in town hall meetings and heated discussions in our community.  We arrange special presentations based on your needs.

  7. NCBI presents 3hr. sessions for each Incoming Class during Welcome Week and also conducts informational sessions during New Employee Orientation.

What is being said about the Workshops:

"I had the distinct pleasure to attend the full day NCBI training and found it to be an experience I will never forget. It made all of the participants aware of some of the stereotypes regarding race, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, and religion that we practice based on the beliefs we hold, and gave us the opportunity to see others through a different lens. I would encourage all members of the SHU community to attend."  - Linda R. Walter, M. Ed.,  Director, Disability Support Services

“Nothing quite provides more faith and hope than strangers exposing their fears and inspiring, together, to make tomorrow a better day” - Luis Montero – MLK Alumni

“This is for ME.  Very few organizations touched me and made me want to really get involved.  This is definitely one of those few.  Thank you all” - Diana Corpus – Class of 2006

“Gained a better appreciation of how people think and feel, how they act on it, and how people effectively change.  The best, most logical and thoughtful presentation and organization I have seen in this topic.” - Zack Brosius –Class of 2006
