Employment of Relatives
POLICY
University policy permits the employment of close relatives except in those cases where a direct supervisory relationship exists.
This prohibition extends to instances which:
- require one relative to review or process the work of the other
- where one relative is given the opportunity to review or recommend salary levels or increases of the other or;
- puts the relatives in frequent contact with each other or;
- which permits one relative to occupy a position which has access to confidential information where communication of such information to the other may prove detrimental to the best interests of the university.
PROCEDURES
Questions and concerns regarding compliance of this policy should be directed to the Director of Human Resources in advance of any hiring decisions.
