Colleges and universities are on the list of locations that are considered to be vulnerable to terrorists. In raising the warning level for potential terrorist attacks to orange, or high alert, the FBI director is calling upon us all to report any unusual activities and to review our own readiness to respond to an attack.

You can help improve campus safety by reporting any suspicious or unusual behavior, such as unauthorized people in restricted areas and abandoned parcels, bags, vehicles or other items, to the Department of Public Safety and Security at ext. 9300 (from off-campus phones: (973) 761-9300).

Be sure to carry your Seton Hall University I.D. card at all times and be prepared to produce it upon request from any University official.

For those attending the basketball games scheduled at the Continental Airlines Arena, be assured that we have been in contact with security officials at the arena and they have heightened security measures in place, in addition to their regular procedures. We strongly encourage you not to bring bags or parcels to the games, or to any public gatherings on campus, as all bags will be subject to inspection.

In the event of an actual emergency, the University community will be notified through the University Web site: www.shu.edu. A voice message may also be posted on the main University number at (973) 761-9000.

Should there be an emergency, we ask community members to do the following:

You may view the University Critical Incident Management Plan for detailed information on emergency procedures, planning and prevention.
